In the Northeast of Mallorca, Jaume Prats has started his own viticultural project after cutting his teeth for five years of harvest at THE Oriol Artigas’s natural wine operation in Alella, the other side of the Balearic Sea. Jaume has 2 hectares of vines from a very old, nearly abandoned vineyard that he is recuperating grown in calcareous and iron-rich clay soils, and in this way shares with Cati the vision of recuperating the nearly-extinct native varietals of Mallorca and rendering a kind of transparency rarely seen in the wines otherwise produced on the island often from non-native French varietals. An up-and-coming producer who is just getting started growing his own, distinctly Mallorcan wines.
