by Anthony Pannone after working in the industry for many years on various levels of the business. Anthony began his journey into the wine business in the early 90’s while living in Honolulu, Hawaii. Surfing and mountain biking by day and working hands on with world class wines by night.
Gaining experience and knowledge as he went, decanting classic vintage, first growth Bordeaux and mature Burgundy for local business men and world travellers alike became a nightly adventure. After several years in the islands it was time to make it back to the mainland knowing that a career in the wine industry was to come. The next step was a position with a classic fine wine importer based in New York City. Having learned the streets of New York City, studied with the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) and eventually worked the way up the ranks of a fine wine wholesaler in Manhattan it was again time to move on. Growing tired of the city and subway life, a meeting with another famous importer led him back home to Delray Beach, Florida as a home base. While working as the Southeast Sales Manager for the next five years, life on the road included tons of travel, both in the domestic markets that he managed as well as abroad to visit the producers represented and their vineyards.
After building a strong network of business relationships in his home market of Florida, it became evident that there was a need for a focused, quality and service oriented company to fill a void that had existed in the Florida market. That is when Florida Wine Company was born. It was time to take advantage of all of the relationships in the trade that had been created over the years of travel and try to make some suppliers happy in Florida. Since then, the portfolio has grown slowly and carefully, as has the staff. Today we are very proud to represent many benchmark wineries from around the world and serve our customers in a timely manner.
